Insomnia: Future-Blind
Deep in a sleepless night under the moon, sight turns neither inward nor outward. It turns toward nothing, a blank place from which the future can't be seen. The eye here is a smooth, empty channel beneath a furrowed brow. The space it contains hums with two sounds at once: the low drone of hopelessness and the high whine of anxiety. The blindness will pass, but in the moment it feels as endless as moonlight. The crescent form is part of the Insomnia suite, carved from Tennessee Pink marble reclaimed from the facade of the demolished Australian embassy in Washington, DC.
