Gift Giver: A Prayer

The Gift Givers series looks at the different ways people meet life’s challenges. Here the gift is prayer. A figure carved in Tennessee Pink marble lifts a basalt cross overhead with both hands, offering it up or holding on to it. Below, a tangled root spreads out like a world in turmoil, all twisting paths and unresolved knots. Prayer brings that complexity down to a single, all-encompassing answer, and the figure stays afloat on it. The root is a churning world, and faith is held high above it.
