What Remains
An idealized face rises from fragments of architecture: an arch, an open doorway, the broken edge of a wall that once stood. It could be a mirage, an echo of the beauty of a vanished era. It could also be the memory of a love now in ruins that still summons a ghost of harmony. A curved form above reads as either a window frame or a moon shining down on the scene. Turn the piece around and the face disappears. Only the structure that holds it is left, an empty niche, what remains.
