Gene Walsh Garcia shows a series paintings entitled Ofrenda (Offering). They are capturing tight grouping of familiar vessels - as if they were morning commuters, or browsers at a flea market. The colors palette is subtle, unsaturated. Their quiet harmony is somewhat surprising, given that individually, the colors might at first appear dull and uninteresting.
Matt Sesow is a different story! His colors are aggressive, they grab a hold of you and won't let go. His space is an bacchanalia of primary colors, a wall of assertive imagery that is an experience in itself. I lingered a bit, just observing the reaction of the people entering his room. Whatever you think about his art, you just can't be indifferent!
