Our youngest son Andrew and I are heading to Southeast Asia in a few days. While he will roam around for the better part of a year, I will accompany him for only a few weeks, mostly in Indonesia.
We're flying into Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, via Istanbul, Turkey. We'll spend a couple of days in Istanbul, at the gate of the Orient, to visit this fantastic city and give our circadian rhythms a chance to catch up to the time difference.
Next we'll spend a few days in Kuala Lumpur, and once we get organized, we'll head towards Indonesia. We have high hopes of seeing orangutangs in the jungles of Sumatra.
After that we'll just follow our noses, hot on the trail of adventure. There may be Komodo dragons, manta rays, and indigenous tribes of Papua in our future...
Follow along with us! I will be posting pictures and impressions along the way.
